What is the Occupational Peer Empowerment Network?

Through funding from the United Way of Southern Chautauqua County and the Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative (ESPRI), the Occupational Peer Empowerment Network (OPEN) works to help lift people out of poverty by overcoming barriers to gaining, maintaining, and thriving as employees.

We work with employers to help develop employees that are happy, healthy, and given every opportunity to succeed.

Who is OPEN for?

Qualifications for Participation in MHA OPEN:

  • Employers in Jamestown
  • Employers with employees who live in Jamestown
  • Employers who need help maintaining employees
  • Employees looking for support outside of traditional Employee Assistance Programs
  • Employers looking for a pool of employees ready to work
  • People looking to get back to work with the help of a supportive team
  • Any employee who wants more resources
Why MHA Assistance for Employers?

MHA OPEN works to improve employee retention through facing the obstacles that come up in life.

On average, it costs 16% more to replace an employee due to lost time, training, productivity loss, than to keep them, so of course we all want to keep people we already have. We help you do this.

When you work with people through life's twists and turns, you show them that you value them. Your employees will understand why you are a great place to work and stay!

OPEN will help you retain employees, and keep their lives and your business on track.

How can we help?

We help with the nitty gritty of getting back to work and staying at work:

  • On the job coaching
  • Skills to succeed
  • Professional attire
  • Housing
  • Transportation
  • Childcare
  • Systems navigation
  • Food insecurity
  • Soft skills training
  • Peer support
  • And more...

I had a major life setback recently and was about to lose my job. MHA OPEN made sure I was able to continue working with transportation and housing help until I could get back on my feet!

Why MHA Assistance for Employees?

MHA OPEN works to improve employee stability through facing the obstacles that come up in life.

Financial instability is stressful and can cause damage to other areas in your life. Having the comfort of regular income can ease some stress with your family, friends, and other relationships.

Many employers take for granted that their employees can separate their lives at work from their lives outside, but often times, personal troubles can interfere with job performance and reliability. Finding resolutions for those troubles on your own before they affect your job can be daunting.

OPEN is designed to help you deal with the things that get in the way to keep your life and your career back on track.
